One of the nifty things Google Earth lets you do is to fly along a route between 2 points. So, for example, if you wanted to travel to Glasgow from Edinburgh, you can follow your route from the air and see all the features and places along the way.
How to:
1. Download Google Earth and instal
2. Using the slidebar at the top right (it appears when you mouse over it), zoom in to the location you want to start your trip from. This could be a particular town or a specific street or landmark in that town. The further you zoom in the more detail you get.
3. Right click on a listing or icon to pull up the Directions bubble, and click From here
4. Zoom into the location where you want to end your trip. Right click to pull up the Directions bubble, and click To here.
You will now see your route mapped in the 3D view with a purple line .
5. To fly your route, select the Route item at the end of the directions listing. Click the Play Tour button and off you go.
