Searchbots – a personalised search aggregator

SearchbotI’ve been using Pannini, my own personalised search aggregator, for a couple of months now and am finding it very useful. Pannini is a searchbot – a search engine that feeds off Google, Yahoo, Delicious, Magnolia, GeoURL and others. By feeding it with your own key tag words, it builds up an artificial intelligence, enabling it to search on your behalf and deliver resources to you that have been selected from a wide range of search engines and social bookmarking sites. Because you have told it what you are interested in, it will deliver resources that are more likely to be useful to you than just a simple Google search. It will also do a persistent search, i.e. it will keep searching indefinitely for you, so that when a new resource appears it will send it to you, even if it is 6 weeks after you set up the search. You can set it up to report back on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.

A search on the Proclaimers, for example, would bring up a graphical display showing a thumbnail and brief description of each site.

Lovely!
